Dear Jumbo community,
Today, we are excited to announce that Jumbo is being acquired by Coalition Inc., a prominent servicer of cybersecurity insurance. As a result, we write to inform you that Jumbo has reached its final chapter, and while Jumbo will no longer exist as a standalone product, its philosophy and DNA will live on in the services that Coalition provides. It has been an incredible journey serving you, and we are eternally grateful for the support, trust, and enthusiasm you have shown us along the way. This post aims to address some important points about our farewell and provide guidance on how to navigate the transition.
Firstly, we want you to know that any data stored on our servers will be purged, and that means 100% of it. As always, you are in control of the data that is stored locally on your device, including 2FA codes and archives. If you have valuable content stored in your Jumbo app, it is crucial to export it promptly. Failure to export 2FA codes and archives will result in potentially permanent loss if the Jumbo app is uninstalled at any time.
Secondly, It is important to mention that Jumbo will no longer be accessible through the App Store (iOS or Google Play) after June 18, 2024 (next year) and won’t receive any further updates after v5.9. To prevent being locked out or losing your social media archives, we’ve put together some steps to help ensure a smooth transition.
Here is what you need to do now that Jumbo is winding down:

We like metrics, so here are some fun highlights to illustrate how our tools have helped people:
But you don’t have to take it from us. Here are some of the beautiful things that we have heard from our very own users.
Throughout our journey, what we are most proud of are the friendships, cohesion and sheer amount of fun we were able to create as a team.
As a product group, we moved quickly, issuing brand new releases almost every single week, while staying dedicated towards creating something that users could trust and genuinely enjoy using. Through the designing of our interface, the UX for blurring a home address, our in-app messaging service, and more, we have had lovely memories working together to find the right design, layout and messaging to make privacy simple and most of all, intuitive.
Behind the scenes, our backend team was able to deliver consistent and reliable service, all while keeping user data encrypted and private. Doing so with “privacy first” as our guiding principle made things harder to build (just ask our Javascript team), but it felt good to stay true to our mission as a company.
Over the years, we were able to reach users from different parts of the world and show them multiple ways to reinforce their privacy and security. Our goal was to create a product that made it simple for users to protect themselves online, while delivering the absolute best customer experience of any app online (if we do say so ourselves). Through the remarkable, glowing, and even funny reviews that we’ve received, we know that we achieved that goal, at least for some.
As a team, we are proud of the culture that we were able to build. This has been a culture that led to a high degree of productivity and team cooperation (cooperation that led to us getting out of the escape room together!), but more importantly, led to incredible growth for so many team members as individuals. This is a group of people that genuinely cared for each other, often willing, and even eager, to help each other out. This is evidenced by the fact that there have been many people who started in one position or place in their career, and are now in a better one. From our retreats, to the fun that we’ve had in the office, to the number of users we were able to protect, we are proud to have created a culture where people could do phenomenal things.
It’s quite rare for any startup, let alone any company, to be able to maintain the same team for 3+ years, and of those who have left, most have gone on to start their own ventures. This speaks to not only how strong our culture is, but the commitment that people have shown to our mission.
So here is a “cheers” to the amazing product managers, designers, customer support pro’s, engineers, marketers, leadership and office cultivators who made Jumbo such a special place to work.
While our journey with Jumbo may be coming to an end, we encourage you to remain vigilant in protecting your digital privacy. We hope the skills and knowledge you gained with Jumbo will serve you in the future and continue to help make privacy and security an accessible right for all.
On behalf of the entire Jumbo team, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for being a part of our community. Your support has been invaluable, and we are honored to have had the opportunity to serve you.
Thank you for being a part of our story.
With our deepest thanks,
The Jumbo Team
